The story of Mappillai is a household story. Girl from rich family falls in love with a rowdy and she gets married. After marriage the mother-in-law, unlike father in law in most films, takes revenge on the son-in-law. But this revenge has a twist it's this in the script that helps the movie succeed. The movie has everything, yet someone who has seen the yesteryear hit would seldom get excited with this new venture.The story, the approach everything was very fresh back then but after so many years the movie didn't excite me much.The music by Mani Sharma is just passable , the dialogues are nice and the output is just okay.
My final word for Mappillai : Dhanush fans should go. If you havent seen the older version then you should go. If you have seen the older version by Rajni and if you want to see how well his son-in-law managed then you can give a try. A sixer for this Dhanush starrer.
